RICHMOND, Va. The Virginia Lottery is rolling out a new game that would award a top prize of a thousand dollars a week for life to the person who matches six winning numbers.
Win for Life's first drawing will be held next Wednesday. It replaces the Lotto South, which was experiencing declining sales.
The odds are a little better than Lotto South -- Win for Life's odds of winning are one-in-5.2 (m) million dollars, compared with Lotto South's one-in-14 (m) million odds.
In addition to Virginia, Kentucky and Georgia will also sell Win for Life tickets.
In fiscal 2005, the Virginia Lottery made a record 423 (m) million dollars in profit on a record one-point-three (b) billion in sales. Of that amount, profits from Lotto South totaled 24-point-3 (m) million dollars.
